Count only the rows that meet a condition

Understand

COUNT tells you how many orders there are. Nobody ever wants that on its own. They want how many came from Otago, or how many cleared a thousand dollars. COUNTIF is COUNT with the question attached.

=COUNTIF(where to look, what counts)
